traceable liquid HPLC System Holistic Standards
The Food and Drug Authority (USA) require that HPLC systems are assessed holistically as well as having the individuals qualified and calibrated. [See the key paper by W B Furman, T P Layloff and R T Tetzlaff, J. AOAC Int., 77,1314, (1994)]
Burgess Consultancy has developed a unique holistic HPLC system performance may be assessed using a series of 4 test mixtures which have relative mass concentrations of 25, 50, 75 and 100% of three solutes in such proportions as to give equal areas at a series of wavelengths circa 224, 245, 256 and 272nm. These overall system suitability standards allow limits to be set for the detector system, autosampler precision and the combination of the pumping system and thermostatic control of the column under conditions of overall system use. The HPLC system chosen is chromatographically robust using a standard ODS column and acetonitrile:water mobile phase at a controlled temperature of 55°C.
Each 4 vial set contains 4 standard solutions in 6ml borosilicate glass vials (Standards 1 to 4) and a nominal fill of 4ml sealed with crimped aluminium overseal with PTFE faced septa.

Specialist & Custom Standards
Custom standards are available for the auto-injector qualification and carry over, refractive index detectors and fluorescence linearity on special request. In addition customised standards can be made to meet individual client requirements for other purposes.
